Two years ago I saw Shook Ones with a dozen other people, crammed into a practice space in Chesapeake. It was real neat. Go to this show.

Zombies

This is the zombie version of my friend Melanie.

In your head, in your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie,
Hey, hey, hey. What's in your head,
In your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie?
Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, dou, dou, dou, dou, dou...

Best dudes

I got a new sketchbook the other day, it's kept me from doing anything productive for school.

One of The Greatest "Sinners" Of All Time

This is Don Everly of The Everly Brothers.

...so, I had a typo when I was about to post this on my own blog. Instead of labeling him as of the greatest "singers" of all time, I almost called him one of the greatest "sinners" of all time. If Rolling Stone ever makes that list, I'd be interested in seeing who made it and who didn't.

And now for something different...

Levon Helm x Neutral Milk Hotel

I wasn't really familiar with Levon Helm before I started this painting. He's the drummer of the band called The Band, which I find pretty amusing. I just got into Neutral Milk Hotel's second album "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea" a few days ago. I highly recommend it. It's something about the lyrics that's so visually nightmarish, haunting, disturbing, yet poetically beautiful and down-to-earth once you start to decipher it. Yay for music! Also, check out my profile on Ohger, an illustration website for students and recent grads.

The Smiths x Kitchen Slugs

This is a painting I completed of the great Morrissey. He's definitely one of the greatest voices alternative rock has ever had. Plus, his hair is all kinds of ridiculous. On a side note, I found a slug in my kitchen. It was just sitting on the side of the counter. I looked at the salt and thought "Should I?"...but I let him live. I came back an hour or so later...and he was gone. Apparently that slug was fast when no one is looking...or I hallucinated a slug in my kitchen. Either way, Morrissey is still the shit.

Annie Lennox

I completed this while listening to Vampire Weekend. Maybe that means something deeper? Probably not.

Richie Pope's Intro x Karen Carpenter

I'm Richie Pope, a freelance illustrator in Richmond, VA. This is my first post on CerealBreath and I want to thank Babyfoot and Christopher for adding me to their team..although I now wish I had a cool nickname like "Babyfoot". Be prepared to see some interestng paintings, drawings, sketches and whatever else my creative mind feels like churning out. There could even be some collabos in the future...sounds tasty, doesn't it?

So, to kick things off is a painting I did of Karen Carpenter, part of a self-directed painting exercise. Check my blog for past paintings and details from the series.

This was drawn during a lecture that I probably should have paid more attention to. Colored Pencil was added 10 minutes before scanning this.
